Kathleena Mason, Paramedic
Executive EMS Director – 57-40
Kathleena Mason began her medical career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in 2007. During her time working in an assisted living facility, she frequently observed and interacted with Emergency Medical Services crews, eventually developing a passion for prehospital care. A pivotal moment came during a severe blizzard, when she assisted a neighbor experiencing a medical emergency. Providing care while waiting for EMS confirmed her calling and solidified her desire to pursue emergency medicine.
In 2011, Kathleena earned her Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license through Otsego County EMS and worked as an EMT throughout Northern Michigan. Driven to expand her skills and provide a higher level of care, she obtained her Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) certification in 2016. Just months later, she began Paramedic training at North Central Michigan College, earning honors throughout the program and graduating with her Paramedic certificate in June 2018.
Kathleena joined Beaver Island EMS in fall of 2020 as the Assistant Director, accepting the position without ever having visited the island. She quickly made Beaver Island her home and, in 2022, accepted the role of Executive Director. She has since earned her Michigan Instructor Coordinator license and is committed to advancing prehospital care and education within the Beaver Island community.

Christopher McGee, Paramedic
Assistant EMS Director – 57-41
Chris obtained his Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license in 2016 from Mesa Community College. After graduation, Chris landed his first EMT job at a substance abuse rehabilitation and detoxification center outside Phoenix. Chris worked at the facility for two years as an EMT working his way into a supervisor role. During this time his insatiable appetite to further his education pushed him to re-enroll in the Paramedic program at Mesa Community College.
Having graduated from Mesa Community College with his Paramedic license in 2018, Chris started his road career in Mesa as a paramedic working both critical care interfacility transports and high volume 911. Chris spent two years in Mesa as a paramedic before moving back to the Midwest in 2020.
Chris obtained his Associates in Applied Science in 2021 and is currently enrolled at Northern Arizona University to complete his Bachelor’s of Science with ambitions to complete his Masters in Public Health thereafter. After spending the last year and a half working rural EMS outside Lansing Chris was hired to serve the residents and visitors of Beaver Island where he currently resides with his wife and four children.
