Two New EMS Instructors

Beaver Island EMS is proud to announce that the Director of EMS, Kathleena Mason, and Assistant Director, Chris McGee, have both been issued the highest EMS licensure by the State of Michigan! The Instructor Coordinator license allows Kathleena and Chris to provide initial and continuing education training to all EMS license levels in the State of Michigan. The Instructor Coordinator course itself lasted around six months consisting of educational theory, teaching methods, and much more. Congratulations Kathleena and Chris!

Get Well Soon Pam

Beaver Island EMS MFR Pam Moxham experienced a setback in her post op recovery yesterday at home. Pam is always caring for others above herself and is always available anytime you need her. We are all wishing her well and keeping her in our thoughts. Take a moment to send your love her way. Get well soon Pam Moxham !

Island Resale Donation

With the cold weather fast approaching, the Beaver Island EMS team would like to recognize the Island Treasures Resale Shop for their donation that allowed Beaver Island EMS to purchase two hypothermia bags. These bags are used to keep patients warm in extreme temperatures. During the dead of winter, keeping patients warm is critical especially during trauma incidents. These bags are cost effective with a cleanable, reusable fabric with the ability to keep patients at a comfortable temperature in the aircraft with many more winters to come.Your dedication and devotion to the island, its people, and community servants is beyond superior. Thank you for your time and generosity!

Beaver Island EMS thanks the following Island Resale Shop volunteers: Donna Stambaugh, Karon Wojan, Marge Boyle, Donna Kubic, Kathy Speck, Marijean Pike, Nancy Tritsch, Tina Morgan, Donna Fase, Darlene Dooley, Sally Stebbins, Betty Scoggin, Dena Martin, Patty Meuller, Janee Boyles, Sara Rohner, Candy Conant, Lu O’Connor, Loretta Slater, Sarch Haveman, Cindy Ricksgers, Lisa Gillespie, Ann Stanhope, Karen Hershey, Sally Lounsterry, Sheri Timsak, Ellen K. And any others who may not be listed.

Blarney Bears Donation

Beaver Island EMS was recently called to assist a pediatric patient in distress. We keep stuffed animals in the ambulance to help provide comfort to patients during these high-stress situations. We’re unsure when or how we acquired the Blarney Castle Teddy Bear that provided comfort to the patient that day, so we reached out to Blarney Castle Oil & Propane where we were shown continued kindness. Without hesitation, they shipped over a box of new Blarney Bears for future patients needing a fuzzy embrace. Beaver Island EMS would like to thank Blarney Castle Oil and Propane/ EZ Mart along with Mr. Dennis McCarthy for their generosity and compassion.
